NBA

After losing 4 games at the start of this season, Mavericks managed to have a 12-game winning streak (It was the longest in the NBA this season) , but that was ended yesterday by Wizard (106:97). The last time Washington defeated Dallas was Nov. 5, 2003. Wizard built leads of 20 points in the first half and 31 in the third quarter.

Finally, Mavericks had their first win this season. They are now 1:4 after this  tense 119-112 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

Phoenix Suns who fell to 1-5 is also a team I like, but unfortunately they also had a sluggish start this year.

I told myself before the game, if they lose again, I will not watch any game this year (not this season!) any more: got a lot of things to do:-(. But now, what should I do…

Mavericks needs to do well on defense if they want to go further, Dirk needs to play harder and more aggressively, reduce the turn-overs, and play consistently (many time they let the early leads blown away!)

What a wild and unexpected NBA season it is! A little more than a week, it already caught a lot of eye-balls.

Last year’s nobody Jazz got 4 straight wins, and last year’s Western champion Mavericks received a 3 straight losses; Rockets lost to Jazz in the first game, then had 31 point big win against Mavericks, but was defeated by Hornets the next day. They played like a totally different team in these two games. Ups and downs, isn’t it the same in a person’s life? That’s the reality, realize it! More importantly, face it with the right attitude regardless the situation. There is a saying: your attitude determines your altitude. Be positive, be confident, and be humble as well. when you are up, say thanks, but keep in mind it is just a tiny step, feel proud, but nothing to boast about; when you are down, don’t feel like it is the end of world. You are just standing low, not lying low.

Another observation, Don Nelson became Warriors’ coach this season, and it was his first time to lead Warriors against Mavericks yesterday. He didn’t receive what he is supposed to receive after taking Mavericks to this level in Dallas’ AA center. It is said this was because he was having the strained relationship with Mark Cuban for the $6 milliion the former owner owed him. The thing should be worked out quitely easily and much better than what it seemed to be right now.  Don’t know what they (especially Mark) are thinking for people as smart as them.
